Transforming Spaces, Inspiring Lives

Home: Welcome

In Orientation Module we were given limericks by Edward Lear, We started with the drawings by imagining and drawing the first image that came in our mind .We drew individual drawings with an old lady sitting on a stool eating the desert and her head getting infested with beads. As we understood about the poem we focused more on the infestation part and developed a drawing based on this idea. We tried to show how big and bulky the infestation has grown with the beads layering the mass and also how the infestation has taken over the whole body and no body exists and it is just a big bulky beads infestation with layers and depths. Then we tried to put up the concept of deformity in our structure. We directed our design first in a more decorative style of using paper but then what clicked was making it structural by creating convex bulges.
The fundamental of any sort of infestation is deformation, whether it be weathering of books or infestation in living things resulting in symptoms such as boils, sours and textures etc. The unique thing about this structure is that it’s made of only one element that is metal wires.
From the very beginning we decided to create a basic foundation of thicker wire that could hold its curvature and created a grid that stayed upright along side the pillar. This was followed by layering weaves on the large sections which was essentially to show an endless movement and a column that was once stiff and upright was now deformed , uneven and severely unpleasant to feel and see, just like a body infested.

Every Curve Counts!

During this module, we aimed to observe our surroundings more closely and capture the essence of the relationships and character that they hold. We spent a week exploring Eksar village and sketching a different location each day in order to uncover its unique character. We made sure that each subsequent drawing was connected to our previous sketches.
At the end of the week, we incorporated all of our A3 sketches into a larger drawing
In my drawing, I aimed to depict the sense of closeness that the place embodies. It's not just about sharing common walls but also the relationships that we see in our daily lives, connecting each house to one another. In spite of the limited space, the residents occupying these space have successfully created a close-knit and lively community through effective negotiation and collaboration.

ORTHOGRAPHY

Our module on orthography was all about the method of representing a three-dimensional object in two dimensions. We were introduced about how a drawing can provide information about the design, dimensions, and other essential aspects of a structure with the help of various views such as plan , section, elevation. Our final step in the module was to create a model of HEALTHCARE CENTRE BY FLYING ELEPHANT STUDIO , which was a group assignment. With the help of drawings of all elevations, sections and plan we were able to achieve the model in a 1:50 scale.

GEOMETRY AND PATTERN

This module focused on our understanding with geometry and logic and with the help of them we studied how various forms have various geometries and logics behind them.We understood the form of our elbow and how to make a structure with the help of geometry to achieve all the desired curves and planes

The structure making was a pair assignment. After our completion of the structure we were graded on our work from our fellow classmates.During the final review we encountered various ideas from listening to each of the pair.
